Introduction to Sharing Lives

Twelve Weeks of Wisdom

-A Study for Young Women-

"But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine: that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience; the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things -- that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed."
-Titus 2:1-5

On behalf of all the teachers, we would like to welcome you. We are very excited to bring you information that might be helpful as you pursue your walk through the joys of womanhood and life.

The information offered in this program is taken from God’s love letter to all mankind, the Bible. There will also be information from our teachers based on their own life experiences. The passage of scripture that Sharing Lives is based on is Titus 2:3-5; "…the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things – that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed."

We do not have all the answers and we are definitely not perfect, but we know the One who is. We want to point you to Him. We have learned that the only way to get through anything in life has been to follow Jesus and His example. Sometimes we did things God’s way and sometimes we did it the world’s way. We hope you will be able to learn from our choices as we share our lives with you.

There will be issues that will deeply touch your hearts. We want this to be a safe place for you to ask questions, ask for prayer, and let the Lord open your heart to His word and the work He wants to do in each heart. Every woman involved with Sharing Lives is here for you. The phone list of teachers is a wonderful way for you to ask for prayer or ask questions that you might not feel comfortable asking in class.

There has been a teacher assigned to pray for you throughout Sharing Lives. Please keep in touch with her and let her know your prayer requests. Take advantage of this special time you can have to get to know the woman who has answered the call to come alongside you!

We are looking forward to lots of laughter, fun, and heartfelt moments as we discover the joys and rewards of being a godly woman!

Please remember that intimate details discussed each week can be very personal to some. What you might think is no big deal might be huge to someone else. Be sensitive to others and do not share unless you have permission to do so.

May God touch your hearts in ways you never thought possible!

"Of all the other things I could do, what has eternal value?"

Twelve Weeks of Wisdom for Young Women

What happens when young women make the leap from childhood to adulthood? Often fear and doubt take hold. This twelve-week course is designed to equip young women to make that leap with confidence. Titus 2 tells us the older women should teach the younger women. Through this study, experienced godly women will offer instruction and encouragement to young women as they share their lives with them in order to prepare them for life outside the nest through the wisdom of God's Word.

This is What We Do at Sharing Lives

Pray - from the end of one year to the beginning of the next and without ceasing!
Below is a list of things needed for the course. We are in the process of putting together outlines for each class. They should be available in the summer of 2013. Of course you will want to personalize it to your own Women's Ministry and the needs of the young women in your church. {slide=Click here to read more about the process.}
  1. You will need a facilitator (Women's Ministry Leader)
  2. You will need to customize this ministry to your church according to:
    • age group (our age group is from 15 to 25)
    • topics
    • the number of teachers
    • the number of participants in a home setting. Because Sharing Lives is an such intimate ministry you will want it in a home. The setting in a home encourages intimacy.
    • the time frame, how long each session lasts; 2, 3, or 4 hours. We found that 3 hours work best for us.
  3. You will need teachers, admonishing them to make sure their heart is prepared.
    • Teachers will be assigned one or two young women to pray for and to be involved with.
    • The Lord will bring those "hands-on" projects to include in these lessons. Examples, cooking, sewing, ironing, balancing a checkbook, how to use small tools, how to reupholster furniture, interior decorating, etc.
    • Your teachers should be coming up with their own studies and should be solid, mature women of the Word. These lessons should not be from anyone else but your own teachers, you can use materials from other resources but proper credit should be given to those resources.
  4. You will need to decide what lessons are needed for your young women. The topics listed in our course offerings have worked best for us. Of course we take away or add, according to God's guidance, each year. We also recommend that you offer one service class each year.
  5. Because we know that Satan wants to shut down this ministry, don't leave a door open for him to get in, so have a clear line of authority established. You need to be under the covering of your church and be humbly submitted to your Women's Ministry leadership. Included in this packet are the following:
    • Introduction to Sharing Lives (to be included in the binders given to the young women).
    • Teacher's welcome letter.
    • List of course offerings for 2012.
    • Parental consent form for those under 18 years of age.
    • Young women's prayer request forms (to be given to the teacher who is praying for her).
    • Samples of teaching materials on the subjects of prayer, communications and worship, purity, and protection and safety. This packet is meant to encourage you to begin a Sharing Lives ministry in your church and this information is intended to give you ideas as you prayerfully begin to put it together!

"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one! You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates."
    - Deuteronomy 6:4-9
