Shannon Gallatin

Shannon is a writer, Bible teacher and pastor's wife from Calvary Chapel Finger Lakes. Shannon says " Because of God's infinite grace, I get to be the wife of the most wonderful pastor I know. I'm the mother of a little miracle and stepmother to a treasure. The Lord has used my past jobs of working with families affected by addictions, abuse, and other life tragedies, to help oversee the women's ministry at Calvary Chapel of the Finger Lakes.

I couldn't be more thankful for the Lord's entrustment to wear multiple hats of various sizes in the ministry of "life". Praying that each of these things are being used to make me more like my Jesus and bring Him great glory."

Though I love all of the Word of God, Philippians 3:10 has become my life verse and Acts 20:24 my ministry pursuit.

More from Shannon:
"A friend recently gave me a link to watch a particular session from last year’s Christian Leadership Alliance conference. It was quite the boost of encouragement while I chopped broccoli and sautéed asparagus for dinner. But this morning, as I perused other speakers, categories, and sessions, I came across one of my all-time favorites: Joni Eareckson Tada." Read more here.

Miss The Carriage

Miss the CarriageEnumclaw, WA:—With 15 to 20 percent of all women experiencing a miscarriage, the pain of this loss is all too common. Many women will identify with the journey of one woman who experienced multiple miscarriages, compounded by several family deaths in a short time. In Miss the Carriage (Redemption Press 2017), Shannon Gallatin shares her testimony of the goodness, grace, and weavings of God in her own journey of grief. She writes for women who have experienced a miscarriage, personal loss, or are struggling in their faith because of grief and mourning. Read more here.

 Shannon's Poem

“Pain is the enemy that has no hands but a powerful grip.
He has no face but an angry countenance.
Pain has no voice but a scream that can be deafening.
Pain has no respect for the righteous and imposes himself on the weak.
Pain does not listen, it does not quit, it does not sleep.
But, pain’s grip is not stronger than God's embrace.
His countenance disappears in the light of Christ’s face.
His scream is easily muzzled by Gods whisper to my heart.
His disrespect brings glory to the righteous and God’s strength to the weak.
God bends down and listens, He never fails, and He never sleeps.
In all of pain’s arguments, God has a greater answer:
His grace is sufficient, His mercy is everlasting,
And His love is more than enough for me.”
Shannon Gallatin

"Wow! What a powerful poem, and what I love about it is that it is real; it tells the truth. Pain does have a powerful grip. And its scream can be deafening. I don’t care what others say, I know for a fact that pain does not listen; it does not care; it does not quit, and it does not sleep. It is relentless! And of all the results of a broken, sin-sick world, pain might be one of the fiercest personal battles we face in a fallen world. Yet there is that word “but.” But pain’s grip is not stronger than God’s embrace. And in all of pain’s whining, complaining, and arguing, no matter how insistent its accusations, God has a greater answer. His grace is sufficient. His mercy is everlasting, and His love is more than enough for you." Joni Eareckson Tada Read more

Broken Shells

...Shannon describes, in a poignant way, the tendency of God to be found among broken and damaged things or I should say, people. He came not to revive the healthy, but the sick, the wounded, and especially the spiritually dead. When we hunt for beautiful shells on the beach, we normally never go where the flies are buzzing over rotting seaweed, where there are fragments of dead crabs, where it’s even—dare I say—smelly. But that is where God goes. Joni Eareckson Tada Read more
